SFYS is a Department of Education funded program that works with schools to support students who are vulnerable or are showing signs of disengaging from school. SFYS also provides training opportunities for school staff and families to support students’ re-engagement.

How does our School Focused Youth Service assist vulnerable students?

SFYS works with schools to start and run programs that build re-engagement with school. The key parts of these programs are that they give opportunities for these students to:

  • Raise their social and emotional skills
  • Have success
  • Boost self-esteem
  • Have more positive thoughts about school and learning
  • Increase friendships and belonging at school

SFYS also provides funding for training of school staff working with vulnerable students.

Where is the service available?

SFYS is available to schools within the Gannawarra Shire and selected schools within the Swan Hill Rural City Council, Loddon Shire, Buloke Shire and Campaspe Shire.
